Thankful Thursday

Two weeks in a row.
That's a good start, right?

So what am I thankful for this week?
Well, lots really! I've had a ton of stuff happen since last
Thankful Thursday
(which you're RIGHT I absolutely SHOULD blog about)
But I'd like to give a shout out to the following:

Today, I am thankful for:
This girl
who even though it was HER birthday
and I was flying in to surprise HER
decked out her apartment in all things pink
in honor of my arrival.
(She even had a cake*!)

This guy.
Who makes that girl in the last photo happy.
Most of the time.

Laughs and drinks with friends.
There is something so wonderful about being able to
laugh with a friend.
And a fantastic glass of wine doesn't hurt either!
Ahhh. this moment.
That's a very close friend of mine, Vanessa.
aka 'Redhead'
She got married this past July to that cute guy on her right.
His name is Cory
And I introduced them.
This moment made us both cry.
She said she was fine until she saw me.
(In all fairness, I had travelled 2000 miles for the occasion
I can see how that's touching.)
I'm also thankful for the fact that someone
(whom deserves his own TT post)
had the presence of mind to whip out my lil pink Canon
and snap this shot.

This is a long lost friend now.
His name is Matt.
We used to snowboard together.
I miss him.

This moment.
Is. Hilarious.
We're all being so ... "us".
I am thankful today for all my great friends,
near and far.

A Goddess

I am a Goddess.
Of many things.
But today, I am a Goddess of the parallel park.

Isn't always just brilliant to find something you're good at?
Don't you just love when that something
is something you wind up doing on a regular
to semi regular basis?

I don't often have the occasion to parallel park my car
but when I do, I always rock it.
And for some reason, I am always impressed with myself.

PS - What are you a Goddess of??

Well, this is a new milestone for me. Blogging on my iPhone. I'll be sure to come back to this post later, when I am at a full sized computer and re-format the post!!

Anyway, on to the meat and potatoes of today's post.

I have decided to try living a gluten free lifestyle.
Happy to report I didn't kill anyone in the first week.
Today is Thaksgiving, however, and the challenge really begins here.

Here is a photo that pretty much sums up how this first week went.

Ok. Ne'er mind. iPhone doesn't have the capability to upload photos.
I'll add 'em when I get home I guess.

Thankful Thursday

As previously discussed (previously being yesterday's post)
I am stealing today's post idea from another blog.
It's called
Thankful Thursdays
and it's something I think we can all take a moment
to think about and participate in.
I encourage you to tell me what
YOU
are thankful for today.
Or any day, really.
But because the alliteration lends itself to Thursday...
that's the day to be vocal about being thankful.

I digress.

Here is what I am thankful for this FIRST Thankful Thursday:

Okay, so I don't own this.
And I didn't even uncover him on some far corner of the interweb
Someone else did.
(You know "who whoo whooooo" you are!)
But I am thankful that something as simple as this
can make me smile.

3 Sisters.
Well, my two sisters, I guess.
I am thankful that we three are sisters.
Better?
Many a time I've been down and they've made me smile
Shu.
Shu.
Shu shu.
Shu shu
And I know that there are times that I make them smile.
Down or not.

I had the opportunity to work on this campaign.
And it's now over.
For that, I am truly thankful.

WARNING: SAPPY RANT

You have been sufficiently warned.
There is some sappy, feel-sorry-for-yourself terrain ahead.
You've been doubly warned.

So, this song basically sums up how I feel ATM.
Here's the lyrics if you don't want to sit through 4 minutes of a
has-been band who's hottie lead singer went down the same terrible road as Jonathon Lipnicki.
Y'know that "OMG what HAPPENED!? You were so CUTE once!!" road.

Sometimes, even when you're surrounded by people, you feel alone.
And sometimes, for no real reason, you just fall apart.
By yourself.
With no one around who understands.
But you dry your eyes, open the door and step outside.
(I'm paraphrasing, here, to fit my own sitch)

So what happened you ask?
Well, I went out to door knock and garner some support for a member
of the Wild Rose Alliance party.
(He's running for a nomination for the next general election)
And I was on my own.
Which sucked.
And I was driving in an unfamiliar area.
Which sucked more.
And I got lost.
A lot.
Like, a lot a lot.
Even with a map.
And an "App for that"
And I fell apart, a little.
Couldn't help it.

I couldn't help but feeling a little alone at that point.
But I'll spare you the awful details of coming home,
looking in the mirror,
seeing the mascara running from all under my eyes
down my cheeks
in a manner befitting of an almost-prom-queen.

The Shoemare Part 2

I should really repeat this mantra everytime my head feels explode-y:
EVERYthing happens for a reason.
Say it with me now:
Everything happens for a reason.
Everything happens for a reason.
Everything happens for a reason.
Everything happens for a reason.

Okay so now that I (maybe) have your interest, here's why:
Tuesday's shoetastrophe has resulted in a pretty incredible shoeumph.
No?
Shoectory?
Still no good?
Okay, how about
Shoewin?
Nah, um, I'm running on empty here ...
Shoeacle?
Shoetune?
Shoecess?
That's all I got.
I digress.

As it happens, as I was awaiting an answer from Aldo
the company that screwed upset me, I was perusing their site
And I added a few lil gems to my wishlist
low and behold, I logged in to check the wishlist
(and purchase a purse I decided I needed for Nov 18th)
I found that my checkout price was drastically different.
In a GOOD way.
(that means cheaper)
Which got me to thinking,
"If these prices have dropped maybe the price on my GORGEOUS gray strappy numbers have dropped as well!"

And the indeed, Ped-a, the Patron Saint of Shoes
smiled upon me.

So, joining the original gorgeous shoes (hopefully)
will be the following:

I have yellow shirts
I have previously texted in a fit of rage:
I need a pair of yellow shoes!
Plus, they look FAB FAB FAB with jeans.

I saw these in black, initially, and htought of my mum
not sure why?
Anyway, I have a lot gray pants that I don't have shoes for.
Seriously.

PS - Now to return the wrong shoes to the store ....

It's a Shoetastrophe!! A Shoemare!

I love shoes.
You didn't know this?
Oh yeah, I guess I haven't really transposed my love of shoes from FB to Blogger. I'll get on that.
Anyway, you know that part in PS -  I love you where Hilary Swank has thrown her shoes and remarks that she has to go pick them up 'cause they might think she's mad at them if she leaves them? (or something)
That's me.
Kinda.
(Understatement?)

ANYway, a huge travesty has occured. A shoevesty.
(are these getting old yet?)
I ordered this REALLY cute pair of shoes online. It's never a good idea to order shoes online, I've often thought. I think we maybe talked about this briefly in this post.
However, there was a store (that shall remain...nameless) that was having a clearance.
AND you can debit online. (!!)
That just makes it waaaaay too easy.
I digress.
I was hoping to have them arrive before the weekend so I could wear them both on Friday (they are GREAT for jeans) to go out for drinks with the co-workers. Also, to be able to strut from my car to my mum and dad's front door on Turkey Day. (yep, Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend)
They were delivered yesterday (!!)
Imagine my excitement when I grip the package
knowing that my heart's desire awaits me on the other side of the protective plastic shipping bag
lovingly tucked in to a shiny, little white box.
I was too excited to wait to get back upstairs, (I had them delivered to the office) so in the lobby of our building, while waiting for an elevator, I ripped open the bag and retrieved the shoe box.
Once inside the elevator, one floor from my destination, I opened the box and peeled back the tissue
sucking my breath in as I anticipated the first moment that I would lay eyes on them.
Imagine my defeat
 my disappointment
 my utter devestation
when I opened the box
only to find .....
this ugly lil pair of snub-nosed brown pumps.

2 sizes too small .

I can't even keep them if I like them.
(which, in hind sight, I have KIND of fallen in love with them a little.
What? I need a new pair of brown pumps and round toes are in this season)

This is what I ordered:

Aren't they GORGEOUS??

Can you not see them with a nice pair of jeans?

Or dressing up a smart pair of gray pants?
I'm in love. Still.

And this is what I got:

Not terrible.
And as I said, they're growing on me.
